Professional BD, DVD, CD printers
Unlike the home CD printer a professional DVD/CD printer is designed for continuous CD printing and features a built in disc tray that self aligns itself.
The links provide greater information on each DVD CD label printer to avoid a major novel on one page. If you have any questions or observations please give us feedback via the comments. We would love to hear from you. :)
Primera Technology
Primera uses in-line robotics in it's newest offerings. A long way from the old Composer series which had a swinging robotic arm.
Bravo II Auto-loader: Primera's auto-loaders and automated DVD duplicators use a Lexmark print engine. The Bravo II series use a two ink cartridge system. Primera/lexmark ink is proprietary, that is one can only buy Primera 'branded' cartridges. The Bravo II is PC and Mac compatible and connects via a USB cable. Includes disc labeling software. One year warranty
Bravo SE Auto-loader: The Bravo SE is a low volume (lower in comparison to the Bravo II series) CD label printer. The Bravo SE uses a special tri-color cartridge which includes black (or an attempt and combining all the ink colors to create a black). The Bravo SE is PC and Mac compatible and connects via a USB cable. Ink usage is high by design: the SE is a low volume printer. When ink sits it dries out. Includes disc labeling software. One year warranty
Microboards Technology
Microboards uses Singulator robotics technology which drops a disc vertically into the print tray.
GX-1: The Microboards GX CD/DVD Printer features HP ink jet print technology (HP CD printer), with vibrant HP Vivera inks and an industry-leading 4800-dpi resolution, delivers high-quality color in text and images that print directly onto discs. Uses a single ink cartridge like the Primera SE CD printer auto-loader . Supports PC and Mac (10.6 is not yet supported). One year warranty with additional coverage options available.
PX-1: Manual printer version of the GX-1
Print Factory III: The Microboards Print Factory has been around for a long time. Now in it's third generation, the Print Factory uses 2 Cartridges: CMY (V102C) and K (V101B) and costs around 25 cents per disc (full-color, full-coverage) with fully automated operation and 100 disc capacity. Features HP inkjet print technology. One year warranty with additional options available.
Print Factory Pro: Building off the success of the Microboards Print Factory and a joint venture with HP, the high performance inkjet CD printer auto-loader Print Factory Pro was born. The Microboards Print Factory PRO uses separate C, M, Y, and Black ink cartridges which means zero waste – and the lowest possible cost-per-disc, as low as 11 cents for a full coverage print. One set of ink cartridges can produce 850 to 1,500 discs. Print resolution
Rimage
Prism Plus: The Rimage Prism thermal printer provides excellent monochrome printing using direct thermal printing. Discs can be printed in under 10 seconds and for less than four cents which makes it ideal for low cost printing. The Rimage PrismPlus should not be confused with a cheap thermal printer. It can do thousands of prints and provide full coverage as necessary. The print resolution is 600dpi.
Everest III: The Rimage Everest III thermal re transfer CD label printer provides excellent reproduction of photographic images. The printing process is a two-step process. First, a reverse image is printed on the back-side of the re transfer sheet. Then, the completed image is permanently adhered to the surface of specially coated CD, DVD, or Blu-ray Disc media. The whole process takes about one minute. The Everest III has 300dpi and All Everest III ribbons have fixed yields which result in predictable cost per print and predictable print outputs.
Everest 600: The Rimage Everest 600 offers 600 dpi Print Resolution and uses the same thermal re transfer technology that the Everest III uses. The highest print resolution in the industry delivers photo quality images, with sharpness and detail that are not available in other print technologies.
480i: The Rimage 480i CD inkjet printer uses inkjet HP CD printer technology and is a standalone manual inkjet printer with 4800dpi resolution.
MF Digital
PicoJet: MF Digital's PicoJet inkjet CD printer features 4800dpi printing and HP inkjet printer technology. The PicoJet comes in two models, one for manual operation and a second for auto-loader applications.
R-Quest
FlashJet: R-Quest's new FlashJet printer breaks from the old FlashJet 4800 in that it now uses proprietary ink cartridges and not off the shelf HP cartridges. This makes the cost per print much higher then it used to be. Availability has been an issue too with the recent release243. Supports Vista and hopefully Windows 7.
FlashJet Pro: The R-Quest FlashJet Pro offers Individual Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black cartridges similar to the Verity Panther and the Microboards Print Factory Pro. Supports Vista and hopefully Windows 7. When mounted to an autoloader and using the TrueNet software (which networks the printer) the system can be accessed by a web browser. TrueNet FX works within any java-enabled web browser, including Internet Explorer, FireFox, and Safari. There is no need to install client software, making deployment within any corporate structure easy and providing compatibility with Windows XP & Vista (32 & 64 bit), Mac OSX, and Linux simultaneously.
TEAC
P-55: The Teac P-55 dye sublimation thermal CD printer features two print modes: Standard mode which is thermal re transfer and the second mode is dye sublimation. TEAC's P-55C printer holds the disc from the center hub therefore providing the most accurate disc-handling. It is also the only full-color CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) thermal printer with "True Black". Dye sublimation creates a gas (instead of liquefying the ink) which aids in better color mixing. The Teac P-55 has the most widely supported by 3rd party robotic manufacturers and actively encourages 3rd party integration.
Copypro
CopyPro PowerPro III Printer: The CopyPro thermal printer is similar to the Rimage Prism Plus although the print software is more basic then most labeling programs. It can only print in monochrome and has a few 3rd party manufacturers who support the printer.
Verity Systems
Panther: HP engine, Featuring HP’s PhotoREt III enhanced color-layering technology, up to 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi color resolution. Unique in that it's a manual printer version (PC connect)of the Microboards Print Factory Pro.
XLNT Idea
Autoloader: Lexmark print engine. A less expensive alternative to the Primera Bravo series. 4800 dpi, two cartridge
