Dual Layer DVD+R media (sometimes called "double layer DVD+R") provides double the amount of storage on one side of a DVD+R disc. Up to 8.5Gb per side. DVD+R dual layer has a second layer that the recorder's laser can pass through the semi-transparent first layer. Most DVD recorders support dual layer and can provide you double the storage. Generally more expensive then a standard DVD (or two) it provides the convenience and sometimes necessity of a single disc recording.
