LightScribe Blank CD
LightScribe allows users to print directly to a blank CD discs using a special recording drive and specialty coated discs. The user simply flips the disc over onto the "label side" and the disc recorder creates an etched gray scale image of the label on the disc. The discs come in many colored backgrounds. The surface of the media is coated with a react dye that changes color when exposed to a certain wavelength of laser light. Lightscribe labels etch in concentric circles, moving outward from the center of the disc. Images with the largest diameters will take longest to print.
