CD Dimensions carries a full line of high quality white inkjet printable CD-R media for today's popular automated CD publishers and printers. We carry the leading manufacturers of printable CDs including Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, MAM-A (Mitsui), Falcon and SKC. Inkjet printable surfaces are not created equal. Drying time, surface defects, consistency and quality of the recordable disc all are factors in a premium grade vs.. "one of the others".
Inkjet CD printers use standard ink cartridges (some are modifed for ink reserve status) to print on the surface of inkjet printable CD media. Cartridges are available for single color, as well as full 4 color printing. Because inkjet printing is a wet process, they require special ink absorbent media to be used. The wet process has the advantage of being able to mix colors, and can produce excellent multi color printing results at fairly high resolutions. These printers tend to be lower priced than the other technologies, and are available in a broad range of resolutions. Printable CDs primary disadvantage is that the CD print surface is not impervious to moisture but there are several new surfaces like Taiyo Yuden's WaterShield printable CDs surface that provide water-resistance and a glossy surface.
