4x Blu-ray Drive
Even the simplest and most basic Blu-ray disc duplicators are furnished with a set of professional-level standard features that allow users precision control over the burning and data duplication processes. Not only can these units mass-produce Blu-ray discs, but they also have the ability to write CDs and DVDs, often at extremely fast speeds.
The Blu-ray Disc Burning Process
For example, while a unit might be able to write a single-layer or dual-layer Blu-ray disc at a maximum speed of 2x or 4x, the same drive may have the capacity to write DVDs at 16x speeds and regular CDs as fast as 40x. While most drives that are affordable to the average consumer write dual-layer Blu-ray discs at 4x speeds, technology is improving all the time. In the coming years, it's expected that drives with default speeds of 8x or even 12x will become increasingly affordable.
The majority of these drives have their own central processing units, usually with storage capacities in the range of 500 gigabytes or more, which make them portable and usable without interfacing with an external personal computer. Users are able to control the burning process with a simple control panel that usually features selectable speeds and options for customizing the final output.
